At the end of the 1970s Hollywood realized the inestimable value of the so called “hero’s journey” through the movie “Star Wars” which was accompanied by the broad effect these stories have. In the 1980s MTV became a big competitor in the fight for the ever growing buying power of adolescents. The producers Jerry Bruckheimer and Don Simpson recognized this trend and focused more and more on high-concept, big-budget productions, which were directed very aesthetically by young music video directors. Moreover one became aware of the marketability of the soundtracks and after “Footloose” and ” Flashdance” the film composers became almost as important as the directors of the movies.

As luck has it, Rick Rossovich, who plaid Ron “Slider” Kerner also performs in “A Beautiful Day” screened on the FRONTALE opening night on Novmeber 15, 2017.

“Movies like Top Gun are hard to review because the good parts are so good and the bad parts are so relentless.”
